| 65 Years of NABC |
| February 1, 2011 |
|
Dear All,
In december 1946 the African Institute (Afrika Instituut) was created by Dutch businesses with an interest in Africa, by the Rotterdam Chamber of Commerce and by the predecessor of the Erasmus University (Economische Hogeschool Rotterdam). This means that we are moving towards a special anniversary later this year! We will organize several commemorating events and missions later this year and in the beginning of 2012 to celebrate this milestone.
In the meantime, we are looking forward to a very busy year. This month, we are busy with a mission to Ethiopia, an Africa Business Club and a seminar on Doing Business in Southern Africa. Lined up are missions to Tenerife (where we will come together with American, European and African companies) and Cameroon. We are also looking at a mission to the latest addition to African states, Southern Sudan. In the second half of the year, we will do a big business to business event in Nairobi in September and are looking into missions to Zambia and West Africa (Ghana, Nigeria and Benin). With at least 2 activities in the Netherlands per month, there is plenty to offer for those of you that are not joining these missions. I would also like to stress that our Pan-African network of contacts is quickly increasing and that our membership is now approaching 300 Dutch companies.
The strong NABC lobby towards the Dutch government in favour of pragmatic support to Dutch companies in Africa will hopefully also give its first tangible results in the coming months. I look forward to make you part of our passionate drive to mainstream business with Africa!
Warm regards,
Bob van der Bijl
Managing Director NABC
